Following our last lecture, ‘Laconians in the Epanastasi’, we were pleased to be joined by one of Melbourne’s premiere experts on the topic of the Doric Dialect, Mr Alexandros Giannadakis.
Alexandros discussed the Grammar and History of the Ancient Doric Dialect (Spoken by, among others, the Spartans!) and its modern survival in the Tsakonic Dialect (otherwise known as Tsakonika).
Mr Giannadakis graduated with a BA (Hons) in Ancient and Modern Greek language and culture/pedagogics from the University of Crete in 1983. From 1983 till 1995 he taught Modern and Ancient Greek in private… Meer
